The Coombe Abbey Woodturners Club was founded over ten years ago. The members meet at three
venues which include: The Baptist Church, Hinckley Road, Walsgrave, Coventry; The Village Centre,
Bulkington, Coventry; and Coombe Abbey Country Park.
The club membership has reached as many as 80 with an average of 45 attending meetings in a most friendly atmosphere — these are held very regularly with two meetings most months.
Meetings take place on a Friday evening at Bulkington, all day Saturday at Walsgrave and Sunday and Bank Holiday Mondays at Coombe Abbey Country Park.
At these meetings, members or visiting craftsmen and women with special skills give demonstrations and talks covering the various aspects of the craft of woodturning.
The club is very active and participates in numerous events and exhibitions demonstrating their turning skills to the general public.
The members have also organized many events, which have raised considerable sums of money for charity. This year our chosen charity is the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance.
